What is "Good" Therapy

Good therapy is goal directed and aimed at making meaningful change. This change occurs the context of a therapeutic relationship, in which therapist and patient agree on radical openness, a ritual frame, and a willingness to confront deeply personal challenges.

In an age dominated by artificial intelligence, social media influencers, and pop-psychology soundbites, real psychotherapy can seem less accessible, too costly, or too time-consuming. Yet good therapy cannot be replicated by algorithms or reduced to a handful of inspirational Instagram quotes. Meaningful change happens—just as it has for generations—within the context of a therapeutic human relationship. Finding relief from suffering is priceless. Common Questions:

"I don't just want validation and agreement, how is this therapy going to be different?"

Good therapy is about experiencing oneself, others, and the world in new ways. As a psychotherapist, i invite my clients into the unknown parts of who they are. The therapy relationship is leveraged to cultivate challenge and curiosity in understand ones suffering, and the personal responsibility we bear in the maintenance of our pain. Validation in psychotherapy is not a mechanism of change, and is not the same as therapeutic dialogue.

How long will therapy take to see results?

I believe therapy should be goal-oriented and time-limited. Every therapeutic relationship develops at its own pace, and patients progress at different rates. After several sessions, we will have an open discussion about the goals of therapy and an estimate of the timeframe in which those goals can reasonably be achieved.

What is the cost of therapy?

I charge $350 per session and offer courtesy out-of-network insurance billing. If you have OON benefits, you may be reimbursed for part of the session cost once your deductible has been met.

Dr. Yedidya Levy

For nearly a decade, I've worked on developing expertise and honing my craft as a clinician specialized in men's issues. Men tend to have a unique experience of the world and a complex relationship with mental health. As a licensed psychologist trained in various modalities of psychotherapy, I've repeatedly witnessed the transformative power of insight, and the therapeutic relationship, even when it feels all hope is lost. I am the assistant director of the college counseling center at Yeshiva University, and have worked extensively with adult men of all ages, and from all walks of life. I believe psychotherapy is a bespoke process, one in which the care and roadmap to change is highly individualized. Through this exploration, we'll identify the patterns contributing to your current distress. We will develop insight into the ways these patterns are maintained, and we will effectively intervene to create lasting change. Reach out for a consultation today to begin the process of finding relief.
