What Is Psychotherapy for ASD?
With us, psychotherapy for ASD borrows from a variety of modalities. It utilizes CBT to focus on building functional skills and reducing behaviors that interfere with daily life, as well as addressing anxiety, rigid thinking patterns, and/or emotional dysregulation. Psychotherapy also offers an oppurtunity for developing emotional connection, social understanding, and interpersonal skills in the context of the therapeutic relationship. These skills can then be generalized beyond the context of therapy.
What Improvements Can I Expect From Psychotherapy?
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) does not "go away" with psychotherapy or any form of treatment. However, psychotherapy can help individuals with ASD develop skills to manage challenges, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and navigate daily life more effectively. Therapy focuses on fostering social, emotional, and behavioral growth, often enhancing the individual’s quality of life while embracing their unique strengths and perspectives. The goal is not to "cure" ASD but to support personal development and improve quality of life.

About Dr. Yedidya (Didi) Levy

I specialize in proving psychotherapy for adult men with autism in NYC and on zoom.
For nearly a decade, I've worked on developing expertise and honing my craft as a clinician specialized in men's issues. Men tend to have a unique experience of the world and a complex relationship with mental health. As a licensed psychologist trained in various modalities of psychotherapy, I've repeatedly witnessed the transformative power of insight, and the therapeutic relationship, even when it feels all hope is lost.
My experience is broad and deep. I am the assistant director of the college counseling center at Yeshiva University, and have worked extensively with adult men of all ages, and from all walks of life. I believe psychotherapy is a bespoke process, one in which the care and roadmap to change is highly individualized.
Through this exploration, we'll identify the patterns contributing to your current distress. We will develop insight into the ways these patterns are maintained, and we will effectively intervene to create lasting change.
