Common Symptoms Of Autism
2. Restrictive & Repetitive Behaviors
These symptoms are often expressed as maintenance of strict routines, strong preferences for familiarity and predictability, intense focus on specific objects or subjects, and repetitive behaviors (AKA rituals).

What Is Psychotherapy for ASD?
Psychotherapy for ASD borrows from a variety of different modalities. It utilizes CBT to focus on building functional skills and reducing behaviors that interfere with daily life, as well as addressing anxiety, rigid thinking patterns, and/or emotional dysregulation. Psychotherapy also offers an oppurtunity for developing emotional connection, social understanding, and interpersonal skills in the context of the therapeutic relationship. These skills can then be generalized beyond the context of therapy.
What Improvements Can I Expect From Psychotherapy?
You can expect an entirely non-judgemental, apolitical, and bias free psychotherapy experience. Depending on the goals outlined, psychotherapy can help with the development of emotional resources to handle challenges, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and navigate daily life more effectively. Therapy will broadly foster social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
Challenges Often Associated With Autism
Depression
Autism can have a variety of secondary effects that can result in loneliness, shame, hopelessness, and devastating self-criticism. These symptoms can often amount to various forms of depression.

Loneliness
The social challenges associated with some manifestations of autism can result in profound isolation, loneliness, and sexual frustration.

Avoidance
Preferences and discomfort in unfamiliar situations, can result in tendencies to avoid people, places or things. This avoidance can limit freedom, and satisfaction in life.

Real Un-safety
Anger and anxiety are often two sides of the same coin—both reactions to feeling a real or perceived threat.

Meet The Founder

Dr. Yedidya Levy
For nearly a decade, I’ve practiced as a licensed psychologist, refining my expertise through thousands of clinical hours with adults across the lifespan. My training as a doctoral-level psychologist, grounded in psychodynamic therapy and integrated with CBT, allows me to meet my clients’ challenges with depth, precision, and clinical rigor. Over the years, I’ve seen that a strong therapeutic relationship can foster insight and help people make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. As the Assistant Director of the Yeshiva University Counseling Center and the owner of a private practice, I’ve worked extensively with adults from diverse backgrounds—veterans, professionals, students, fathers, entrepreneurs, and individuals navigating major life transitions. Psychotherapy, in my view, is a bespoke process: no two adults are the same, and the roadmap to meaningful change must be tailored, deliberate, and collaborative. Together, we will identify the psychological patterns contributing to your distress, understand the forces that keep them in place, and intervene in ways that promote durable, internal change. Reach out for a consultation to begin the work of living with greater clarity and freedom.
