Our Approach To Men's Issues

Men's mental health is too often overlooked. We recognize that men navigate unique societal pressures, expectations, and emotional burdens. These challenges shape how they experience distress and manage their emotions. In psychotherapy, we work to build stronger coping strategies, cultivate greater emotional freedom, and make meaningful change.

Men face unique challenges when it comes to stress, relationships, sexuality, and emotional well-being. I specialize in working with men to navigate these challenges, providing a space to develop healthier coping strategies, build stronger relationships, and regain a sense of purpose and control in your life.

Men's Challenges Are Unique & Need Focused Therapy

Men face unique challenges in the realm of mental health due to norms and expectations of masculinity. They contend with pressures to suppress emotions, appear strong, and prioritize problem-solving over vulnerability. Men seek help at lower rates than women, and often their experiences of suffering going unnoticed or misunderstood. Masculinity can inform the expression of issues like depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and challenges with emotional and physical intimacy. Effective therapy involves creating a nonjudgmental space, normalizing emotional expression, challenging harmful stereotypes, and incorporating practical, action-oriented approaches to help men feel seen, understood, and make meaningful change in their lives.

Men's Therapy With Me

Therapy with a specialist increases the likelihood of working with a clinician who deeply understands how mental health challenges manifest uniquely in men. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including CBT and psychodynamic therapy, with a keen awareness of the societal pressures men face in expressing emotions and building relationships. My expertise in men’s mental health allows me to provide targeted support that fosters growth, resilience, and meaningful change.

Common Men's Issues

Anger

Many men experience anger as one of the few emotions that are accessible to them. However, they also feel tremendous guilt and shame when they express anger in ways that hurt themselves or the people they love.

Sexual Compulsion

Issues around problematic pornography use, compulsive womanizing, and infidelity are common and often indicative of deeper emotional turmoil related to shame, masculinity, and childhood.

Numbness

Some men have learned to cutoff there emotions and experience life with numbness. This is often the result of various factors including trauma, societal pressures on masculinity, and depression.

Loneliness

Men who lack a robust way of communicating their emotions often find themselves either alone or in relationships where they still feel lonely.

Dr. Yedidya Levy

For nearly a decade, I’ve practiced as a licensed psychologist, refining my expertise through thousands of clinical hours with adults across the lifespan. My training as a doctoral-level psychologist, grounded in psychodynamic therapy and integrated with CBT, allows me to meet my clients’ challenges with depth, precision, and clinical rigor. Over the years, I’ve seen that a strong therapeutic relationship can foster insight and help people make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. As the Assistant Director of the Yeshiva University Counseling Center and the owner of a private practice, I’ve worked extensively with adults from diverse backgrounds—veterans, professionals, students, fathers, entrepreneurs, and individuals navigating major life transitions. Psychotherapy, in my view, is a bespoke process: no two adults are the same, and the roadmap to meaningful change must be tailored, deliberate, and collaborative. Together, we will identify the psychological patterns contributing to your distress, understand the forces that keep them in place, and intervene in ways that promote durable, internal change. Reach out for a consultation to begin the work of living with greater clarity and freedom.
